MACZYN

MACZYN sutures are synthetic absorbable monofilament sutures composed of a Poly(pdioxanone). MACZYN sutures are available dyed violet with D & C violet No. 2 or undyed, in various lengths, diameters and with surgical needles attached. The sutures are supplied sterile in boxes of twelve.

Indications and Features

• used in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation.
• not to be used where prolonged (beyond six weeks) approximation of tissue under stress is required.
• good for joint capsules, muscle sheaths, intestine, bladder surgery
• synthetic absorbable monofilament sutures composed of a Poly(dioxanone).
• due to the monofilament smoothness of this material it virtually eliminates tissue trauma with minimal tissue drag.
• retains it`s strength in tissue for twice as long as other synthetic absorbable suture materials.
• elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissues.
• retains approximately 70% of the original tensile strength at 2 weeks post-implantation
• retains approximately 50% at 4 to five weeks post-implantation dependent on gauge size.
• retains approximately 25% of the original tensile strength at 6 weeks
• absorption is essentially complete within seven months
